Planning Your Dreams
It all begins with a dream. Cathedral ceilings! Skylights! Room-sized closets! But, the dream may turn into a nightmare, unless you plan ahead. Before you remodel or design your dream house, there are certain steps to get your project off on the right foot.

1. Draw Your Dream

We encourage our customers to begin by sketching out your ideas and imagining your new rooms. Peruse decorating magazines and tear out pictures or layouts that you like. If you are adding or expanding a room, we will help you think about how the space will be used and how the changes will affect traffic patterns. We will also help you consider how the new construction will affect the overall context of your home. We will steer you in the right direction to get the most return from your investment into your home.

2. Learn From Others
You hire us to share our years of knowledge and expertise with you. Frequently we find that sharing experiences we’ve had with other homeowners proves to be invaluable to new customers. We also know the pros and cons to all the latest fixtures, cabinets, counter tops, etc. and will guide you towards making the best decision for your lifestyle and budget. Our customers consider us a wealth of information that will work with them creating their dream home avoiding costly mistakes frequently made by novices!

3. Think Ahead
Although you may dream of having a spacious new addition, the project may not make sense if you plan to sell your house in a few years. A luxury bathroom can price your house beyond the values in your neighborhood. Will your family’s needs be different in a few years? We will talk to you about all of these considerations during the planning process and make sure your plans today will fit your needs tomorrow.

4. Count Your Money
Obviously, financing options are a very important component to any type of home planning or renovating project. We will share our experience and expertise with you working towards our shared goal of finishing your project on time and on budget.

5. Walking Through The Contract
Once plans have been discussed and agreed upon, we will draw up a contract and review it thoroughly with you. Details including costs, scope of work, types of materials to be used (and not used) and timelines will be addressed.

6. Get Permission
Dependent upon the scope of work, a legal permit is frequently required before you make structural changes to your home. The building permit assures that the remodeling project meets local building codes and safety regulations. If you live in a historic district, the permit also assures that any exterior changes to your home are in keeping with neighborhood guidelines. If necessary, we will take care of securing permits so that you can rest assured that every detail of your project will be safe and within code.

7. We Will Always Respect Your Home and Property
We understand that any type of renovation or building in your home can create havoc. Having to live with workmen coming and going, the disruption of not being able to use certain areas of your house, trucks parked outside your home, not to mention the endless dust and dirt, can cause homeowners tremendous stress.

We understand that and are sensitive to it. We will do whatever we can to eliminate that stress. Prior to starting any project, we will talk to you about your rules for workers. We will want to know your preferences for things like work crews’ arrival and departure times, where you would like trucks to park, where we can store our equipment, etc. At the end of each day after cleaning up after our crews, we will meet with you to review what has been done and what we plan to accomplish the following day. We know that consistent communication between us is essential for a project to go smoothly.

We also encourage you to plan on ways you can indulge yourself when you need a break. Schedule a day at the spa and reserve a night at a romantic bed and breakfast inn. You’ll come back refreshed and ready to answer even the toughest of renovating decisions.
